Hello Raiders,
Want to discover Morocco on a week or two with a small budget? My Itinerary 100% free as always is for you I'm sure !!
For the impatient, to start this road, by direct insight into our trip Video (watch in HD please) . Mounting homemade, I hope you enjoy it
- Route A simple and convenient Morocco: A step = some = some pictures.
- A printable format (pdf) if you wish to and usable tablet.
- An easily scalable route to the length of your trip.
- You will discover the true culture Moroccan sleeping Homestay (gites, bed and breakfasts, small family hotels, ...).
- Travelling cheaper than going by formulas "all inclusive" .
- You contribute to the development of small villages Moroccans.
- Attention, this route does not replace but complements a paper guide that will bring you more information about traffic areas (we recommend the guide book for Morocco).
- By reading our little guides ( Where to go in Ireland , Where to go in Corsica and hopefully soon Where to go in Canada) , we give you want to drive to other countries in this way and especially to continue to live the blog.
As you can see, we decided to go to the adventure in the lands south of Morocco where the scenery is the most beautiful .
Attention no preparation, no guide or backpacker Lonely planet with us, no reservations, no defined steps, just a car and an idea of the loop to achieve in a week (9 days to be exact) to realize our route . One way to travel cheap as we like.
"Do not be a tourist, be adventurer year" as I always say .
It is a "road trip" that we wanted as well. We trusted the advice of Moroccan friends inbred and especially games on the road while avoiding the bad intentions of some people and that's the most difficult part. Inshallah !!
Our instinct and especially our experience in this type of travel we have of course helped to find good deals in Morocco .
From this, it is to be totally objective and discover places and nooks preserved thanks to local residents. Not 5 star hotels with swimming pools and hamam small but comfortable rooms homestay and guaranteed to be greeted like real guests and; for a cheap price (10-20 € / person for the dinner + night + bf we loins of proposed hotels rates).
Morocco, a country worthy of those landscapes of Utah in the United States (I know what I'm talking there lived three months
Morocco, hearty meals at the restaurant for 4 € per person.
Morocco, a very interesting cultural study on capitaliserez you when you return you will see.
Morocco, a country that leaves room for adventure without risk.
Morocco, land of 1001 nights with oases, palm groves, short contrasting greens stuck in secret gorges.
You'll understand the Morocco is a paradi handy at 3am flight to France.
I know you're in a hurry but before you start, you'll learn a few benchmarks that will be useful during your trip (you can check it out again on the plane):
- 10 dh is equal to about 1 €.
- A flat costs on average 40DH (4 €) in a Moroccan restaurant.
- A room with half board costs 400dh for two (dinner + night + bf).
- Average théillère classic stainless 150dh costs about a souk in Morocco.
- The cost of living is about half view 2/3 cheaper than in France (€ 4 so expect a dish in Morocco when it would cost 8 or 10 € in France This will avoid many scams..
- Sample Budget for our 9 day trip : € 250 (car) + € 600 (AR plane) + € 110 (meals pm) + € 280 (dinner + night + bf) + 60 € refueling = € 1,300 2
- Purchase a donkey costs between 500 and 1000 dh dh next season while a mule costs between 10,000 and 10,500 dh dh (that was for fun, can be for our next trip)
I'll try to give you the prices paid by dh, you can then convert these benchmarks but you still fall about the same rates.
First things needed to be done before starting the path are finding a bank to have cash(allow wide as bank charges are generally fixed so better withdraw once many many small time).
Then buy some water (one or two bottles max because you will always rab purchased the restaurant bottle and hop first board !!!) then make sure you have a full tank.
To get out of the city, the directions are not really set in Marrakech . We must therefore rely on your compass to go south if you do not have detailed maps or GPS.
Marrakech you head towards Ouarzazate via the mountains of the Atlas. Highway is long but beautiful . You will see many children selling their harvest to the side of the road as well as adults who offer precious stones.
Recall, if you beckon people to stop because they are down, it is surely hawkers or touts, do not stop, honk if necessary.
For fuel, there are none on the road to the top is why I advise you to refuel Marakech.Anyway, know that you will find Agouin, you can already surround on your card.
Upon arrival, the guest room looking Brahim Bolkaid 00212 671 816312bolkaid_ebrahim@hotmail.com . To get there, you have to take a lane right in the middle of the village. It is normally indicated. Leave the car there for free, drop your business, ask for information to Brahim if necessary.
First visit on your itinerary, go see the ruins on the other side of the river. It will take 1 hour minimum. Please note admission is free despite what you may be asked to the first input.Walk along the ramparts to the right of the entrance and enter further if necessary.
Chez Brahim, count 400dh night for two with dinner and breakfast included dej.The view from the terrace is beautiful because it overlooks the ruins (old village). This is one of the best steps that we have made in Morocco.
Otherwise, here is the list of places to Ait Ben Haddou . I highly recommend if you want to book Booking before leaving. To each his own definition of adventure, I totally understand especially when you share with her children or when there is already a certain age.
In the evening you can go to the village after (about 5km further north) to admire the sunset as we did and as you'll see in our video. If you do not want to embark on the banks of the river against the bottom, you can stay on top of the cliff on the edge of the road ...
Back to Ait Ben Haddou, after Brahim great meal, enjoy a good night in one of its five rooms.Nothing to say, everything was perfect !!
Wake up at 7am the next day for the "big" breakfast on the terrace . It was at this point that you do the best photos of the ruins as the colors are beautiful during the "Golden Hours".
Already a much more beautiful than Marrakech city. I advise you to spend the morning. Please visit the Film Museum at the entrance (allow 1 hour visit to 50dh / person anyway but it's a classic that will allow you to see the scenes of mythical film like Gladiator and Asterix Mission Cleopatra that really remained unchanged) and the Kasbah Taourirtwhere you can see how there once lived the rich . Do not wait too long and continue to Ouarzazate.
Shortly before Skoura on your route, you will have the Palmeraie on your left , you can go to get lost a little. We took the latter indicated by "camping Amridil" track. Then you need to head towards "the gardens of Ouarzazate" and stop when you want to admire these beautiful palm trees ...
Then join the city of Ouarzazate. With any luck, you'll be there on Monday and will survey the impressive souk and are doing good business because it is not touristy .
Eat "At boss Barbu - the palm" all against the souk.
I suggest you also make your payments on this souk which will cost you much less than that of Marrakech !! .
Between Ouarzazate and Dades Boumaine you spend in the famous Valley of Roses . You can go walk around a bit because this is a classic on this route. The guide book will give you more information.
Last tip, not least, c 'is a secret oasis preserved tourists 15km south of Ouarzazate .The name of this oasis that was recommended to me by a friend who is currently working in Skoura, is Sidi Flah (thank you Anne Sophie). It is reached by a trail that leads south.Unfortunately I was not aware of this gem on our trip to Morocco. So, I share with you one of the pictures of Anne-so.
If you stay a little longer than we in Morocco, you can spend a day or two Skoura in one of these rooms .
For me, the Dades Gorge is the place I chose our path in Morocco as these gorges are much less crowded than those of Todra .
We stayed at the Hotel Restaurant MIRGUINE in ALI 00212 68763804 hotel_ali@voila.fr KM14 on the Gorges road (top of a rise just before switching, you can not miss it).
Lovely view of the rooms:
Although the meal was not extraordinary view on it is superb and Ali made us discover the Gorge the next day through a big hike (pass through canyons, troglodytes, monkey paws ...).
If you want to stroll through the palm you can start 100m from the hotel by taking the lane on the outside of the turn. If you want a true hiking in the Gorge and more specifically in the canyon between the finger monkey , ask Ali, who will guide you with pleasure.
Otherwise there are other typical small hotels on the gorge road (evidenced on the booking card). Although many hotels are Boumaine Dades, the city that marks the beginning of the road to the throats, I advise you to go to sleep in the grooves, it's more fun.
To continue your trip to Morocco and going to Todra Gorge , you have to turn on the R704 and go through Boumaine Dades, we ate a piece coffee ALHOURIA restaurant at the entrance to the market place on the main road . You can ride on the terrace inside and enjoy the good chips at good prices .
Either you can sleep in this city in a few nice hotels . There is the inn "restore calm" or the hotel restaurant "Kasbah" for any budget. We had good feedback from these two addresses that are opposite one another in the down just before the intersection with the road to Todra Gorge .
If not, I urge you to go to sleep on the side of Todra Gorge and you'll understand why:
Drive approximately 8km after the intersection. You stop at absolutely PANORAMA TODRA"Petit Riad '+212 677004972 www.panoramatodra.com / panoramatodra@live.com a guest house that offers a wonderful view on the palm grooves . This is the view from our room we liked during our stay in Morocco. Panorama Todra should be a staple in your road trip. I thought of you, you have a glimpse of this oasis in our video . 'll Be patient it's not bad, you will be there very soon normally
HMED greet you like royalty. Something to ask you to continue to prepare this route
As always, ask to see the rooms and visit this traditional architecture before committing Berber. we snapped it up on the first floor overlooking the palm grove . Coming from Ali Gorges Dades we had this room with half-board for 300dh / person in a friendly price instead of 600dh / person (it's a good adventure) . There is nothing wrong, everything was perfect, the view was just heavenly.
The next day you can go to the Gorge walk in the palm grove along the wadi (river) and join the "nest tourists" at the foot of cliffs. As we make abstraction of all these people drove up and try to enjoy these magnificent gorges.
Rather than backtrack as many do, keep the R703 road north towards Goulmina.
You'll find here the beautiful Gorges I found more impressive than Todra. The valley is beautiful. You will not find any tourists, so I speak here of a little-known region in Morocco.
On this road, you will feel alone in the world. You even see nomads who live in caves and holes in the rock . Lovers of authenticity, you'll thank me for having shared our roadmap with this step.
Children sometimes clean the road gravel or concrete aprons that were submerged by the river. They sometimes stop vehicles to request a room. Do not worry, it may look impressive at times.
After our long drive in the middle of the pampas, we stopped at Moha Ksar Ait youb Ahmed_ousri@hotmail.com and moha2_ousri@yahoo.fr 00212678417810www.gitechezmoha.c.la
Moha was super nice, he introduced us to his gardens and the village upon arrival as you will see in the video. This is someone that I really enjoyed. In principle I am not the only one because we met a couple who is a regular . This step therefore deserved a visit to complete our final itinerary for Morocco.
Then continue your journey south Morocco. You will pass Goulmina.
Ar-rachidia not necessarily worth a visit on a road trip a week (if you have more time know that it is also interesting to remember to shop because it is THE big city further south which is less visited than Marrakech for example). In addition, the road "cross" between R702 and Goulmina Erfoud is much nicer to see is for this reason that we chose on our road trip.
Above all, attention to the many touts who will do anything for you to follow . For information, but you can imagine, these people earn their living by touching commissions hotels and restaurants where they get to you cast off.
For a slightly more reliable choice, there is always a booking that will show you the best places to sleep near the desert of Merzouga .
Second option you prefer on Fishing and backpack, the bivouac in the middle of the desert. Are you tempted?
For this little adventure, we passed by the inn camping Oasis (allow maximum 300dh / person in a friendly price). It's a family that runs this small inn. It is far from tourist factories clustered around the dunes.
For our trip, we had the chance to be alone with our camel driver, no other tourists. In addition, this hostel the camp is located on another dune and not next to any other bivouacs. You'll understand if you want to relax in the middle of the desert, you need to go with the family Oubana (which was known from one of our previous flights, it is good "Arab phone" ).
Photo taken with my polarizing filter famous HOYA Pro 1D .
If you want something more touristy and therefore more alive , choose the Auberge l'Etoile des Dunes at Erg Chebbi 00212661988138 www.letoiledesdunes.com Idir , it was recommended to us by several (Come by Ali Gorges Dades and you will pay 300dh / person in friendly prices).
Back to Ouarzazate via N12 to complete the Route.
While you are about to begin the road back to pad your beautiful loop in southern Morocco, I advise you to take a step at Ahmed on the way home, it offers a B & B "Ait Hmid" http : //www.nkob-tourisme.com/
If you still have time, I recommend staying in the Draa Valley that will allow you to finish your trip in style.
Alternatively, 15km below Ouarzazate via a track in the stone desert, is the oasis in the valley Tiguirt Fint.
In this small corner you will find the ecolodge Ouednoujoum will welcome you in Berber tents . Comfort is primary but it is present (small sink, shower, and restoration is also very good ...). It is a Berber family who developed the concept. Grandparents are the last inhabitants of the "village". They are really super nice. Before leaving, each tour group is invited to plant an olive tree.
And if you / you / you like the movie "Babel" with Brad Pitt, you will recognize the sets of the film on the road that brings you to this little paradise.
Whatever time you have left, turn when you want, head to Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
As always in our travels, we still enjoying one of the legendary cities of this beautiful country before flying back to France.
To do this, we are made a pleasure with a great Riad EL Grably !!!
The owner Bretonne greet you like royalty and will advise you to do your shopping before leaving.
Otherwise, you can choose to sleep on the Internet in Marrakech .
A day or two in Marrakech looks to me to see the most important points: Place Djemaa El Fna and the souk, the Majorelle Gardens, Dar Si Said, the dyers souk, etc.
One tip in Marrakech: make your car before walking the city because it is almost impossible to travel at night in Marrakech even if you think like me to be a good driver !! You'll save a day's rental and many frights
Your Moroccan road trip comes to an end. You will be able to get to the airport to board your plane and return to our beautiful country.
If this route in Morocco has been helpful, let me say hello in the comments , it is always a pleasure. If you have questions or comments , enjoy, we will respond in (almost) live as always on Fishing and backpack.

you gave us a lot of ideas like that !!!
why all these commercials for booking, it is better to leave his money to Morocco ...
were not particularly boasted by being adventurous, it's just that we like to travel off holidays "all inclusive" sleeping in the individual or through sites like couchsurfing or via guest rooms all without booking in advance. This is the vision we have of the "adventure travel."
The goal is to focus on the mouth in the country, this is what has allowed us to find places or sleep.
Do not mix everything and read Article diagonal, because as said, the links to the booking partner are for people who just want to use our roadmap but who wish to book before you go and / or stay in hotels and not in the individual.
J test reach the largest number with this blog and the spirit of adventure is unique to each.
Cheers and thank you for the criticism helps clarify a few details to readers ...
Signed the bidochons
The homestay does not exist in Morocco, you're just down in very conventional commercial lodging.
Absolutely false !! Moroccan .. would love to train the same life it is only 10-15% cheaper.
False, there are large pumps Ait Ourir, and other opportunities to Taddert.
These prices are impossible !!!!
The adventure begins !!!!
"(allow maximum 30Dh / person in a friendly price)"
Do not make fun of the world !!!
you do not loose the piece, I have rarely seen so hard on my blog.
I have no reason to lie if I want this route to be used, shared, loved, etc. For example, here is the first "route" that I published on my blog have made on the same principle, it is visited by thousands of visitors a month (Google slaps "Or go to Corsica") and some of them have followed to the letter and the fallout is as I even received gifts in the mail from the mayor for example. Take a look at the comments, you have an overview of feedback from readers.
Oh b'un said so all Moroccans are closing their doors to foreign ?? !! It's new ??
So Marcel, know that there are lots of ways to eat with a Moroccan family, the first is 100% free, it's the Couchsurfing (where there is there is even lower than 30Dh night yes yes it is free, 0 € !!), I invite you to educate yourself, you'll be surprised at the number of people who practice "exchange sofa"https://www.couchsurfing.org/ .
FYI, we "super bidochon" also cater to people's homes around the world, FREE (yes it exists in France as I say, it's free, it's called the exchange).
This active travel - often athletes - that combine to explore a destination usually activity Hiking (ahh like it currently the touring throughout my routes) , cycling, horseback riding, but also possibly navigation. The most difficult of these trips may include climbing parties. We can have trips that are akin to trekking.Adventure travel is also often directed towards the discovery and meeting people who have preserved their traditions and customs in territories more or less difficult to access; more difficult access the greater the trip will be considered rare and adventurous.
Seen as an alternative to mass tourism, however it away from backpacking through its higher cost obviously related to the supervision and organization of travel by the tour operator.
